Numbers

What happened. I remember when we (my sisters and I) got out own phone line. It was our old number, and my parents got the new one, and my grandmother never accepted that fact and called my mother every Saturday at 8:00 am, of which my mom would have long conversations with her, sometimes started smoking while talking to my grandmother. This went on for 4 freaking years, every Staturday.

But that isn't my point.

My point is, most homes had 1 phone, maybe two lines at the most. Know a family of five has a lan line, five different phones numbers for each of the people. The dad and mom both have work numbers, and some have a work cell phone. Too many phones, a correction is coming.

This is how it is going to happen. Phone numbers, long distance, caller id, and all that other crap that SBC pedals. All going way. Look it is too big for me to explain now. So what I want you to do is grasp this concept.

Everyone is going to have their own ip address.

This will be your portal into your email, internet, phone, where ever you are you will be able to access any of your media toys (PDA, Phone, Satilite Radio, Internet) anywhere in the world. You will be able to access your TV program from the Swiss Apls. Now they have to make it secure, and that is only a matter of time. If you think about how big technology has gotten in such a short time, these security holes were to be expected. It will get fixed.

Now I know, you don't want sollitors to call you on your cell phone, nor do you want them to clutter your inbox with Viagra spam. That is all going away too. It is only a matter of time. They will not be able to defete the anti spam, spywear, pop-ups. Ads are a big part of this. Remember what happened when the dot com bubble burst? It was the loss of real estate that killed it. Ad revenue. It is what drives media. People need to make money, money comes from ads, yea you can pay extra for ad free HBO, but the cost of a show like 24 could not survive on an HBO budget. We need ads or this shit is going to get expensive. But it is getting cheaper to produce, but where would we be without motivation? The ads will be integrated, you will hardly notice them.

Long distance. With voice over ip, and the current potiential for the web to be used to transmit voice and data at the speed of thought accross the world at any point. No need for the extra overhead. It will be as cheap to talk with someone in Greace as it is to send them an email. Same channels. It is just the bandwidth that we need. And as we have seen in the last 5 years. There are Content Delivery Networks, 64 bit operating systems, 4 gig hz servers. it is only a mater of time that a movie will be streamed to a digital projector in a theater. If you are in the film delivery buisness, now is a good time to punch out or you might wind up like those people that spent 20 years cutting micro phishy. The Vatican library, all of the books in the Library of Congress, every jornal, article, new story, news video, sound clips, everything will be online soon. It is all about the numbers. 1's and 0's or will we get a quantum computer. It will happen soon. VIVA LA REVOLUTION.

So it happened, no fan fair no hype it just happened when nobody was looking. What exactly am I talking about, allow me to explain, please be patient.
In 95 Microsoft released Windows 95 a drastic improvement from there first few attempts at windows. This was far more intuitive than Windows base, DOS (Data Operating System). 95 Seek to change all that, the term multi tasking as a trademark of the new world that we were approaching.
At the time of 95 being release computers came standard with 8 megs of ram. The average price per meg is 100 and you had to buy them in multiple of twos. Windows 95 allowed for programs to use more than the traditional 640kb or the new items at 1 to 2 megs. Within 2 years you could get an additional 8 megs of ram for under 40 dollars, as opposed to the 8 hundred dollars that it would have cost a two years prior.

As the more versions of Windows came to be over the next few years. Improvement to the Operating System allowed for more Ram that was able to be used. Mind you we are still on the 32 bit operating system. Now getting a gig of ram would cost me under 100 dollars.

Now the event that happened. Microsoft announced that the 64 bit Windows XP and 2003 server was released. Currently under the 32 bit architecture the average user has 256 to 512 megs. Mind you we are at a maximum of 3 gigs of Ram. WTF When would we ever need to use that much Ram? Well, now we do, under this new windows 3 gigs will be considered minimum. Put this into perspective. My first Pentium's hard drive was 400 megs. My second drive was 1 gig. My father thought that my ram was my hard drive and couldn't understand what I needed all that space for. Now I have a machine that has 1.5 gigs of Ram, 2.4 megahertz P4 100 gigs of storage (Which I have filled). So what is next, what will my next upgrade be. Will it be several years from now when I have a 6 gigahertz P6 with 5 gigs of Ram and a 250 gig hard drive. What would I ever need all that for. The revolution is just begining, hold on, a need will come.
